1) The diary of a country parson. The Revd James Woodford. The diaries have been published many times over the years by various people. Publication of the diaries are with kind permission of the Parson Woodforde Society.

The Revd James Woodforde was vicar of Weston Longville, Norfolk between 1775 and his death in 1803. Whilst at Weston Longville the Revd Woodford employed many servants. One was Benjamin Leggett of whom there are many entries. Below is an extract of two of the entries:

3rd May 1780 Ben's father William in crossing the river on horseback was thrown off and was head and ears in the river. 27th September 1801 Ben abused Betty this evening on his hearing that she had accepted his cousin Thomas Leggett of Ringland for a paramour.

2) Late and Soon by Frances Leggett. Published in 1968 by William Clowes & Sons Ltd, London & Beccles. 322 pages. Book number 7195 1774 5. Now out of print. This is the true story of Frances Leggett's parents Frank and Betty Leggett of New York. Contains photo's, genealogical information and family trees on American Leggett's.

3) A history of the Liggett family by Eric Liggett. Published by Eric Leggett 1988 at High Dam Barn, Arkholme, Carnforth, Lancs, LA6 1BE. 82 pages of Eric Liggett's research into the Liggett's. Contains a number of Liggett trees around the world and general information.

4) From Norfolk Broads to Dancing Boards by Betty Vawser. The story of the Leggett family with its roots in 17th century Surlingham, Norfolk and the branch which emigrated to the Melbourne area of Australia. Copies available from Betty Vawser on: nbvawser@archon.aunz.com

5) The farthest promised land. This book is about English Villagers in the 1870's who made up a large group of assisted Immigrants to New Zealand and deals at length with the efforts of some of the people both before leaving the UK, during the trip, and after their arrival in NZ in 1874. One of these persons and/or families so mentioned is JOSEPH & ANN LEGGETT, who departed England on the Ballochmyle in March 1874, arriving in Lyttelton NZ on June 1st 1874.
